Strong VW Celebrates 57 Years Volkswagen Sales & Service

In the history of car dealerships, 57 years is a long time to be in the automotive sales business. But the fact is, 2012 marks the 57th anniversary of Strong Volkswagen in Salt Lake City, Utah.

L. H. Strong was selling Hudson-Studebaker’s in the 40s and 50s when he saw an opportunity that he couldn’t pass up. Volkswagens became available in the U.S. in 1955 and Strong became an authorized dealer and began selling and servicing Volkswagen cars that same year.

Strong Volkswagen was one of the first of eleven VW dealers in the nation. Because of his vision, L. H. Strong brought the highly respected VW brand to the Salt Lake Valley and his business would ultimately include Audi and Porsche vehicles.

Dave Strong managed the business for his father and won countless sales and service awards, making Strong the dealership with the highest customer loyalty rating in the country. Dave was awarded the prestigious "TIME Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year" award in 1996 and was a top ten finalist for the national first place dealer.

As business grew, Strong Volkswagen realized they needed two locations and Strong Volkswagen moved from the original location to its current site in 2001.  Now in its 3rd generation as a family owned and operated business, Strong VW continues to realize record sales and service recognition awards.  “As always, we enjoy the loyalty and friendship of so many of our customers who make Strong the leading Volkswagen dealership that we are today,” stated Brad Strong, General Manager.
